ADENOID HYPERTROPHY: A CORRELATION OF RADIOGRAPHIC PARAMETERS TO POSTOPERATIVE ADENOID VOLUME

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Various objective parameters of assessing adenoid size on x-ray have been proposed with no agreement which is most suitable. In this study, the correlation two radiographicparameters: adenoidal-nasopharyngeal ratio (ANR) and antroadenoid diameter (AA diameter) to postoperative volume were compared, a view determine more accurate. Objectives:To compare correlations ANR AA volume, in order establish parameter accurate x-ray. Methods: A cross-sectional analytical study conducted at Moi Teaching Referral Hospital, Kenya. 107 patients below fifteen years age who had hypertrophy underwent subsequent adenoidectomy enrolled.Correlation was calculated using Pearsons correlation, controlling for number days between surgery, potential confounding factor. Comparison coefficients carried out Steigers Z-test. Results: The participants ranged from 11 months years. mean 0.70, 3.10mm while 2.83mL.Correlation was0.661(p<0.001) that -0.222 (p=0.022).Null hypothesis tested Z-test difference found be significant. The is, therefore, determined stronger than diameter. Conclusion: better predictor

Radiographic adenoid evaluation--suggestion of referral parameters.

OBJECTIVE this study aimed to evaluate the usefulness of current radiographic measurements, which were originally conceived to evaluate adenoid hypertrophy, as potential referral parameters. METHODS children aged from 4 to 14 years, of both genders, who presented nasal obstruction complaints, were subjected to cavum radiography. Radiographic examinations (n = 120) were evaluated according to ...

Reliability of radiographic parameters in adenoid evaluation.

UNLABELLED The assessment of adenoids by x-ray imaging has been the topic of heated debate, but few studies have looked into the reliability of most existing radiographic parameters. OBJECTIVE This study aims to verify the intra-examiner and inter-examiner reproducibility of the adenoid radiographic assessment methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is a cross-sectional case series study. Forty...

A New Clinical Scoring System for Adenoid Hypertrophy in Children

Introduction: Chronic nasal obstruction due to adenoid hypertrophy is a very common disorder. Although the clinical assessment of adenoid hypertrophy is essential, its real value in young children is difficult to evaluate. The purpose of this prospective study was to validate a simple clinical score to predict the severity of adenoid obstruction and to evaluate the relationship between this met...

Montelukast in Adenoid Hypertrophy: Its Effect on Size and Symptoms

Introduction: Adenotonsillar hypertrophy (AH) is considered the most common cause of upper respiratory tract obstruction among children. It results in a spectrum of symptoms from mouth breathing, nasal obstruction, hyponasal speech, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to growth failure and cardiovascular morbidity. Adenotonsillectomy is a typical strategy for patients with AH, but may le...
